Alopecia happens in different stages:
- Spot-like alopecia (alopecia feature) is the mildest form. It is not detectable by eye but it is possible to find it by microscope.
- Alopecia areata occurs in patches. They are small or rather large circular hairless areas anywhere on the head. They can form into vague bald areas on the scalp.
- Alopecia totalis – Complete baldness and usually includes the loss of eyebrows and eyelashes.
- Alopecia universalis - All body hair is lost.
